One of my favourite video game tropes is the ‘damaged datapad’ — a datapad or computer terminal you come across that’s corrupted, but not so badly that it can’t still spout a bit of tantalizing, in-world lore. “ You’ve found a datapad” is a Twitter bot that tries to replicate this experience on your Twitter feed by tweeting out random, pre-written, slightly scrambled lore once per hour. Pay careful attention to the bot’s tweets. You may begin to piece together a disturbing story about a top secret scientific research facility (now abandoned) where disturbing experiments were done involving DNA splicers, extradimensional incursion, telepathically controlled spiders, and children with glowing eyes and angelic voices.
